This week on a very special Law & Order: Coercing Victims Unit, Det. Amaro beats a an alleged pedophile unconscious and his partner Det. Rawlins literally blackmails the victim in order to get him to drop the assault charges. Meanwhile Sgt. Benson uses a baby to gain emotional leverage over a sex worker in order to manipulate her into setting aside her fears for her own life and testifying against her murderer-rapist-child trafficker-robber pimp. Of course the woman is gang raped, murdered and set on fire by the end of the episode, so Sgt. Benson gets to keep the baby herself. #ExecutiveProducerDickWolf

“Dogmatic” is a property of the reasoning process leading to accepting a belief or defending it from criticism. It’s not a property of the belief itself. The fact that a belief involves making a very general claim, for example, or a very bold one, does not mean that the belief is (therefore) necessarily dogmatic. If you don’t know what arguments a person would give for their beliefs, then you don’t yet have any idea whether or not their beliefs are dogmatic. #PhilosophicalPSA
