In which The Nation looks at the classes of immigrants who would be privileged with fast-track access to probationary status under a recent Senatorial “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” scheme, and asks, “Why Are Domestic Workers Ignored in Immigration Reform?” http://www.thenation.com/blog/172499/why-are-domestic-workers-ignored-immigration-reform?rel=emailNation%22# Probably because immigrant domestic workers are 95% women, and aren’t employed by multibillion dollar agribusiness corporations. The only “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” that will actually help all immigrants, rather than privileging some immigrants while throwing the rest under a bus, is (1) open borders and (2) unconditional amnesty for all currently undocumented immigrants. Anything else is divide-and-conquer.
