Did I just seriously read some libertarian dude reacting to a feminist criticism of Disney’s The Little Mermaid by saying “I love it when old things are viewed and understood through a modern cultural context. lol.â€
Dude this isn’t Aristophanes.
That movie came out when I was 8 years old.
I saw it in the theater with my little sister.
This “it was a different time!†thing is rapidly approaching serious appeals to what I once (in ancient times, back in 2007) introduced as a reductioad absurdum of banging on this kind of argument no matter how recent the events were.
