Heard a megaphone leading chants out our window, walked down to find a street demonstration by union workers in downtown Lisboa. Procession is moving down from Bairro Alto, through Chiado and Praça de Camões, and then on up to a rally at Campo das Cebolas. Organized by CGTP, one of the major national union federations. Demands, based on the signs, seem to be for a shorter work week, better pay, and a “policy of the Left.” Chanting breaking into occasional songs, lots of red flags, a good old GOVERNO RUA banner, and maybe a few hundred marchers (no doubt feeding into a larger rally) based on hasty eyeball estimates.
