Times: “… Los Angeles and Torrance police were INVOLVED IN TWO SHOOTINGS in Torrance early Thursday when police came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities in a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three other officers. . . “Chase said both incidents involved vehicles matching the description of the one sought in connection with Dorner. “‘NOW IT APPEARS THAT NEITHER OF THEM ARE DIRECTLY RELATED,’ Chase said. ‘In both of them, officers believed they were at the time.’ “Members of the public were warned to stay away from him if they spot him, and to call 911 immediately.” From a friend: “My advice would be to stay clear of the cops.” – Gail Sacco

Just found the attribution of authorship (a blurb on “A Catechism of Anarchy,” in FREE SOCIETY), which I’ve been looking for on and off for the past four months, eureka. http://fair-use.org/free-society/issue/355 p. 4, “Notes:” “Comrade Mary Hansen of Philadelphia, to whom some have attributed the authorship of ‘A Catechism of Anarchy,’ requests us to state that it is a Communistic production, belonging to the Anarchists of the Social Science Club. She wrote the original draft of it, and was then gone over by members of the club, and discussed, and revised and altered. The name of the club was not inserted on the leaflet for the reason that all the members of the club are not Anarchists.”

So this is a highly experimental, sort of Rube Goldbergish gee-gaw which I’ve been tinkering with on and off for a couple days, and it is emphatically not yet really polished or intended for serious public consumption. But,

I’ve been toying with different ways of trying to make more of the scanned material I have from FREE SOCIETY easily browseable and digestible on your end, while providing some back-end PHP magic to make it as trivial as possible on my end to just upload a file to the website and have it quickly get integrated into the TOC.

Any thoughts on how it looks/works on your end (other than “God, a frameset interface, what is this, 1997”)?

Sometimes, when somebody says “Why don’t you ever see [feminists, anti-war activists, gun control opponents, tax protesters, liberals, libertarians, environmentalists, right-wing populists, left-wingers, …] talk about [this issue that seems hypocritical of them not to talk about]?!” they have made a thorough effort to look through a systematic sampling of the things said by their political opponents, and have made a good-faith effort to find them saying something about that issue, and they failed to find anything. Sometimes it is possible for this to be the result of good-faith research and genuine curiosity rather than a cheap partisan gotcha game. Sometimes, but almost never.
